Biography
Aleix Torrecillas and Andrea Atzeni are partners at the artistic workshop “Zero Studio.” They are artists and special effects professionals with 20 years of professional careers, primarily dedicated to cinema and advertising. In their Barcelona-based workshop, they have worked on projects for film, advertising, theater, and opera productions worldwide, becoming one of the most renowned companies in the Spanish industry. Their film work ranges from creating prosthetics for actor makeup, fantastic dental prosthetics, to the design and production of animatronics, as well as the replication of dolls and hyper-realistic human body parts in silicone.
Aleix was born in Barcelona, and from a young age (16 years old), he began his career in the makeup industry, studying and working on short films and commercials. Later, in 2004, he joined the renowned special effects team DDT SFX, led by David Martí and Montse Ribé. There, he learned the skills and operations of the sector, working on numerous films such as Pan's Labyrinth, A Monster Calls, Agora, The Impossible, and The Skin I Live In. At the same time, he opened his own workshop called Zero SFX, where he began supervising his own team and, over the years, learned to manage an artistic workshop. In parallel, under the same roof, he has trained dozens of future prosthetic makeup artists at his school called Zero SFX Training, teaching fields such as prosthetics, animatronics, sculpture, and hyper-realistic art for the film industry.
Andrea was born in Iglesias, into a family of artisans. He grew up in a pastry shop, where he developed a connection to artisanal work surrounded by flour and sweets. After graduating as an interior designer in Barcelona, he honed his computer skills, becoming proficient in 3D modeling software and printing programs. After many years as part of the team, he became a partner at Zero Studio SFX, creating special makeup effects for films and commercials for both large and small productions. Specializing in mold-making and the reproduction of silicone prosthetics, he is also involved in artistic craftsmanship, such as sculpting and finishing props, and is recognized as an expert in hair-punching for dolls, masks, and prosthetics.
Among the latest films Zero Studio has worked on are The Platform 2, Vincent Must Die, and Wednesday 2.
